Elephone P7000 aims to deliver cutting-edge specs and fingerprint ID for $200.

The Elephone P7000 is the latest smartphone to redefine the elusive "affordable flagship" category that underdog manufacturers such as OnePlus have been attacking throughout this and last year. This $199 monster (early birds price) will be up for pre-order in "late April". So, what makes it this interesting?

Why, let's have a look at the hardware, for starters. This bad boy packs a MTK6752 SoC, which employs eight 2GHz ARM Cortex-53 cores. The smartphone's atomic heart is paired with 3 gigabytes of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage memory. The display is 1080p-resolution 5.5-incher, while the photography department employs a 16MP main cam with a Sony sensor, and an 8MP front cam. The house is powered by a hearty 3200mAh battery unit.

Impressed? Yes, the spec sheet sounds really awesome, and alongside its powerful internals, the Elephone P7000 will offer support for individual Android ROMs out of the box - starting with Android 5.0 and CyanogenMod, which will be made available after the smartphone's release. In addition, there's a fingerprint reader on the back panel, which is a component rarely seen on Chinese smartphones.

If the Elephone P7000 tickles your fancy, keep an eye on the company's online partners' pages which will be listing it soon. Alas, the price tag will probably climb by a hundred dollars at least, but even with added cost, this fella seems like a bargain! Oh, and check the official video spot while you're at it. It's below the gallery.
